During a recent visit to Asheville, North Carolina, I had to opportunity to stay the Meadow Branch Cottage on East Fork Farm. East Fork is a sustainable farm, home to a friendly guard dog, rabbits, chickens, and a whole flock of sheep. The cabin was built from locally sourced and salvaged lumber and overlooks the entire farm. Guests can enjoy this architectural gem in a beautiful pastoral setting.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains Asheville is know for it’s scenic beauty and abundance of outdoor activities. It is the home to dozens of local microbreweries and in 2012 was named Beer City USA. There are a number of galleries in the downtown area that not only feature work from regionally recognized but nationally know artists. Just to the west the Appalachian Trail passes through the town of Hot Springs where you can enjoy a hike and perhaps a soak in the healing mineral waters. If hiking is not your thing the Blue Ridge Parkway is just moments away from downtown with scenic overlooks around every turn. As far as I am concerned Asheville just may be one of the happiest places around.
